The inauguration ceremony of the Wakabadai 2-chome Branch was held on January 20, 2013, and I also attended. Following last year's Wakabadai 4-chome Branch, this is the 14th branch in the city, and the president of the housing complex community association in the area was appointed as the first branch manager.
Chief Kurosawa of the Tama Chuo Police Station and Mizoguchi, chairman of the Tama Inagi Crime Prevention Association, were also in attendance on the day.It was not just a ceremony, but also included the presentation of crime prevention equipment and a lecture by the head of the police station's crime prevention division. there was. When the actual recorded conversation regarding the bank transfer fraud incident was played, all the members who participated listened intently.
The Crime Prevention Association is actively working to form new chapters with the motto of ``protecting our own towns.'' Specifically, the Crime Prevention Association and the city will work together to reach out to neighborhood associations that do not have a branch, and as soon as consent is obtained, a new branch will be formed. Each branch is making steady efforts, and I would like to express my gratitude and respect once again.
In order to make these efforts even more effective, Inagi City has collaborated with various related organizations such as the Crime Prevention Association, the Federation of Neighborhood Associations, the Council of Civil Welfare Children's Committee, the Tama Central Police Station, the General Affairs Department of City Hall, etc. We have organized a ``Safe and Secure Town Development Promotion Council'' with the participation of administrative agencies.
This council conducts crime prevention patrols throughout the city twice, once before the summer vacation and once at the end of the year, and also exchanges information at liaison meetings about three times a year, sets numerical targets for reducing the number of crimes each year, and works as one to reduce crime. We are working to eradicate this.
By the way, in the Weekly Toyo Keizai magazine published in October last year, a ranking of livable cities was announced, and Inagi City was ranked 1st in Tokyo and 33rd nationwide in the safe and secure city category.
This result is attributable to the low number of crimes that have been achieved through collaboration between citizens and the government, which leverages local strengths. However, some crimes are heinous, and there is no end to crimes that reflect regional characteristics, such as targeting areas with many elderly people, so the current situation is still far from being a passing grade.
This year, we have set a goal of under 550 crimes. I would like to work together with everyone to achieve this goal.
