No. 14 After this year's town meeting

Updated: December 13, 2012

(Published in the December 15, 2012 issue of Public Relations Inagi)

In order to directly exchange opinions with citizens, we held town meetings in all areas of the city this year as well. The event was held in 10 districts, starting with the Yanoguchi district on October 9th and ending with the Nagamine district on November 13th.
Although the time at each venue was short, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm, in the first half I explained the main projects of this year, and in the second half, the participants gave their opinions and questions, and there was a lively discussion. The exchange was completed.
At both venues, opinions regarding local issues were received, and the most common requests were for repairs and improvements to roads and public facilities. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and will consider responding to cases that require immediate action within the fiscal year, and for other cases in the following year and beyond.
The next most received comments and requests were related to disaster prevention following last year's Great East Japan Earthquake. Regarding the projects earmarked for this fiscal year's original budget, we will work hard to steadily implement them within the fiscal year, and we will continue to strengthen disaster prevention from next fiscal year onwards.
In addition, we received requests for an increase in the number of i (Ai) buses and changes in routes, as well as opinions regarding charging for parking. We will consider improving these issues one by one based on your opinions.
Thank you very much to everyone who took the time to participate despite your exhaustion in the evening. For those who were unable to attend due to inconvenience, please continue to send us your opinions and suggestions to the city administration.
From now until the end of the year and the New Year holidays, we will be working on preparing the budget for next year. Although the direction of the national budget is in flux due to the snap general election, we will continue to work hard to create a solid budget with safe and secure town development as our main issue.
