　Last year was a year of political change, with elections and re-elections held in many countries, starting with Taiwan in January, Russia, North Korea, France, the United States, China, and South Korea in December. In Japan, a change of government occurred due to the general election dissolving the House of Representatives, and a new governor was elected through the Tokyo gubernatorial election.
While the people of each country have high hopes for the new administration's measures, there remains great uncertainty about the future of the world economy due to issues such as the US fiscal cliff and Europe's debt problem, and economic growth in each country continues to be sluggish. On the other hand, there was some positive news at the Summer Olympics held in London in July, where Japan won 38 medals, the most ever.
Now, let's look back on the past year with events in Inagi City.

1 Opening of Inagi City Health Plaza. The facility was long-awaited for the physical and mental health of citizens, and will open in May as an environmentally friendly facility that will feature solar power generation and LED lighting, as well as use of residual heat from waste incineration at the Tamagawa Clean Center.

2 Established a health checkup center at a municipal hospital. In addition to expanding its medical checkup functions, such as human dogs, we have also started collaborating with Health Plaza's exercise therapy. Additionally, a linac was installed to strengthen the outpatient department and radiation therapy began.

3 Establishment of the "Honorary Citizen" system, with Shigeyoshi Tominaga selected as the first recipient. In addition to their long-standing generosity to the city, at the end of last year they donated 1/2 of their ownership interest in the vast land of Inagi Fureai no Mori, making it possible to use the campsite permanently.

4 The "Citizen Honor Award" system was established, and among the Nadeshiko Japan players who won a silver medal in women's soccer at the Olympics, Mizu Iwashi, Sakaguchi, and Iwabuchi, who play for Nippon Television Beleza, were the first to receive the award. (Iwabuchi) Awarded to the athlete.

5 Shinosuke Inagi first participated in the ``Yuru Chara Grand Prix''. It came in 93rd place out of 865 pieces nationwide and 6th place out of 39 pieces in Tokyo. In addition to revitalizing the region by issuing local license plates, we will promote Inagi to improve its name recognition nationwide.

6 Promote tourism promotion initiatives. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has started a souvenir recommendation project, and has certified five items as the first "Inagi Taikohan". City Hall has established a fixed-term employee recruitment system (recruiting starts this month) to hire civilians with knowledge and experience in the tourism business.

7 Provided wide-area support for disaster waste in Onagawa Town, Miyagi Prefecture. The Clean Center Tamagawa accepted them for three months starting in October and completed at the end of last year. Thank you for your understanding.

8 Signed an agreement on mutual cooperation with the Yomiuri Giants. We look forward to future business development with the aim of developing local sports and healthy youth development.

9 Inagi/Fuchu Cemetery Association is established. We have started a joint project to develop a public cemetery and memorial hall in the Nanzan area, with the aim of opening the facility in the spring of 2015.

10 Increase in standard land prices within the city. The real estate market is sluggish due to the prolonged recession, and while land prices continue to fall in the city center and neighboring cities, they are beginning to bottom out in Inagi City, and are rising in some areas, such as around three stations on the Nambu Line. We consider this to be a sign of confidence in the results of town development.
