No. 27 Top 10 Inagi City News of 2013

Updated: January 14, 2014

(Published in January 15, 2014 issue of Koho Inagi)

Last year, there was a blizzard in Hokkaido in March, Yamaguchi and Shimane prefectures in July, and record heavy rain in northern Tohoku in August. Based on these lessons learned, the Japan Meteorological Agency began operating emergency warnings, but tornadoes occurred in Saitama and Chiba prefectures in September, and Typhoon No. 26 caused a large-scale debris flow disaster on Izu Oshima in October. , a precious life was taken.
Overseas, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Sichuan, China in April, a tornado in Oklahoma in May, and Typhoon No. 30 and storm surges in the Philippines in November make us feel the threat of natural disasters. became.
On the other hand, in March, methane hydrate was successfully sampled from the submarine strata off the coast of Aichi Prefecture. There was also bright news, such as the successful launch of the new rocket Epsilon in September.
Let's take a look back at what happened in Inagi City.

1 Elevation of JR Nambu Line inbound line toward Kawasaki completed. On December 23rd, construction work was carried out to switch over the railroad tracks, and "Inagi, a town without railroad crossings," was born. It is the 7th city in Tokyo and the 3rd in the Tama area to have no railroad crossings.

2 Complex facility Friend Hirao reopened in April after renovation. In November, the Hirao Festival was held at the same time as the Third Cultural Center.

3 Establishment of development support center “Respo Inagi” and education center. Both functions are installed in Friend Hirao, and development consultation and school attendance consultation from preschool, and life consultation after school graduation are carried out seamlessly.

4 Inagi City honorary citizen title (Shigeyoshi Tominaga) presentation ceremony was held in June, a monument was erected in Fureai no Mori, and an unveiling ceremony was held in November.

5 Held Sports Festival Tokyo 2013 (68th National Sports Festival). A total of 868 people, including 492 players and managers, participated in the uniform on September 15, and a total of 5,668 people, including 224 players and managers, participated in the rubber-ball baseball from October 4 to 7. A high-level fierce battle unfolded, and local volunteers served pork miso soup and free drinks.

6 Inagi Nashinosuke makes a big leap forward at the Yuru Character Grand Prix. It was ranked 30th out of 1,580 nationwide and 1st in Tokyo.

7 Holding of Inagi Fureai Health and Medical Festival. With the cooperation of related organizations, we held a new event on the theme of health and medical care at the Municipal Hospital Main Hospital, Medical Examination Outpatient Ward, and Owens Health Plaza. The cumulative number of visitors to the Owens Health Plaza, which opened in May the year before last, surpassed 100,000 in August.

8 Change to LED for security lights, etc. In a single year, we converted all replaceable lighting in city halls and fire department buildings, security lighting, and park lighting to LEDs. As a result, we were able to reduce power consumption and environmental impact.

9 Start of subsidies to promote the introduction of residential energy-creating equipment. With the main purpose of preventing global warming, we established a subsidy system for the purchase cost of solar power generation systems, Ene-Farms, household storage batteries, etc.

10 Introduction of public facility reservation system. With the start of operation in April, facility reservations can now be made from home or on the go, regardless of whether it is on weekends or nights.

That's it for last year's 10 big news for Inagi City. Due to the improvement in the real estate market, which had been sluggish since the Lehman shock, the standard price in the city has remained unchanged or turned upward, and tax revenues from municipal and metropolitan inhabitant taxes are also on the rise. Going forward, we will continue to actively promote community development, and together with everyone, aim to make Inagi a lively and vibrant city.
