QuestionPlease tell me about the co-payment ratio at medical institution windows.

Response

The burden ratio of the co-payment you pay at medical institutions varies by age.

  1. The burden ratio for those before entering elementary school is 20%.
  2. After entering elementary school, the burden ratio for those under 70 years old is 30%.
  3. The burden ratio for those aged 70 and over is 20% or 30% (determined by income and date of birth).
Burden Ratio for Those Aged 70 and Over
Resident tax taxable income for those aged 70 and over (National Health Insurance members)
Less than 1.45 million yen
Residents aged 70 and over (National Health Insurance members) with taxable income for resident tax
1.45 million yen or more
20% 30%

Note: However, if the total income of national health insurance members aged 70 or older is less than 5.2 million yen for two or more people, or less than 3.83 million yen for one person, the burden will be 20%.
