QuestionI am struggling with medical expenses. I would like to know about refunds for medical expenses and other related information.

Response

If the out-of-pocket medical expenses become high within the same month, you can apply for and, if approved, receive payment for the amount exceeding the out-of-pocket maximum (the limit differs for those under 70 and those 70 and older) as high-cost medical care benefits. Additionally, an Application Form for high-cost medical care benefits will be sent to the head of the household approximately three months after receiving treatment.
Furthermore, by applying in advance for the "Limit Application Certificate" or "Limit Application and Standard Burden Reduction Certificate" (which may not be issued if there are unpaid insurance taxes) and presenting it along with your Health Insurance Card at medical institutions, you can keep the monthly payment amount at each medical institution within the out-of-pocket maximum in advance. (Costs not covered by insurance, such as room charges during hospitalization, will be paid separately.)
