QuestionIs the high-cost medical care system applicable to childbirth expenses?

Response

In the case of a normal childbirth not covered by insurance, the High-Cost Medical Expense Benefit System does not apply.
In cases where expensive insured medical treatment, such as a cesarean section, is required, the High-Cost Medical Expense Benefit System will apply.
In such cases, we recommend preparing the "Certificate of Eligibility for Maximum Amount (or Certificate of Eligibility for Maximum Amount and Standard Burden Reduction)" in advance.
If you are preparing it, please bring your Health Insurance Card and personal seal to the Insurance and Pension Division or Branch Office to complete the procedure (if there are any unpaid insurance taxes, you may not be able to complete the procedure). If you complete the procedure at the Insurance and Pension Division, it can be issued on the same day, but if you complete it at the Branch Office, it will be mailed to you later.
