Alert regarding cases of fraud involving the improper use of the Ministry of Justice's name to demand money through postcards listing fictitious lawsuits.
Since May 2017, there have been consultations reported to various Consumer Affairs Centers regarding Business Operators (hereinafter referred to as "Business Operators claiming to be under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice") who send postcards to consumers under names such as "Civil Litigation Center under the Ministry of Justice" and "National Litigation Notification Center under the Ministry of Justice," ultimately demanding money in a persistent manner.
The Consumer Affairs Agency has provided information regarding actions that may unjustly harm consumer interests in transactions with business operators referred to as the Ministry of Justice jurisdiction branch, based on the provisions of Article 38, Paragraph 1 of the Consumer Safety Act (Act No. 50 of 2009). These actions may involve deceiving or intimidating consumers, causing confusion. Therefore, to prevent the occurrence or expansion of consumer harm, we would like to inform all consumers.
Improperly Used Names, etc.
It is described as "Ministry of Justice Jurisdiction Bureau Civil Litigation Center," "Ministry of Justice Jurisdiction Bureau National Litigation Notification Center," "Ministry of Justice Jurisdiction Bureau Civil Litigation Notification Center," and in many cases, the name includes "Ministry of Justice Jurisdiction Bureau."
Note: There is no relation between the business operators referred to as the Ministry of Justice's jurisdictional bureau and the Ministry of Justice, which is a national administrative agency. Additionally, there is no department named "jurisdictional bureau" within the organization of the Ministry of Justice.
