Beware of postcards that improperly use the name of the Ministry of Justice!
Consultations regarding business operators that send postcards to consumers describing fictitious civil litigation cases under names such as "Ministry of Justice Jurisdiction Bureau Civil Litigation Management Center" and "Ministry of Justice Jurisdiction Bureau National Litigation Notification Center," ultimately persistently demanding money, have been received at various Consumer Affairs Centers. (Although this was published on the website on May 1, 2018, it is being reissued due to the continued influx of consultations to the Consumer Affairs Centers.)
Advice
- There is no entity known as a "Business Operators under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice," and it has no relation whatsoever to the national administrative agency, the "Ministry of Justice."
- You will not receive a notification of formal court proceedings by postcard.
- If you receive a postcard regarding a lawsuit that you are not aware of, please do not call the phone number listed on that postcard. First, consult the Consumer Affairs Center (042-378-3738), the nationwide common phone number "Consumer Hotline" 188, or the police (#9110).
