Notice regarding Business Operators such as the "Older Adults Support Center"

Business operators that use names suggesting public institutions, such as "Older Adults Support Center," are approaching consumers with claims that their personal information has been leaked and registered with other organizations. They then solicit the cancellation of this personal information registration, after which multiple organizations and individuals (hereinafter referred to as "related parties") appear and make various demands on the consumers, ultimately leading to consumers being coerced into sending large amounts of cash via courier. Consultations regarding this method have been reported to Consumer Affairs Centers across the country.

The Consumer Affairs Agency has provided information based on the provisions of Article 38, Paragraph 1 of the Consumer Safety Act (Act No. 50 of 2009) regarding transactions with Older Adults Support Centers and related parties, indicating that there may be acts that could unjustly harm the interests of consumers (such as deceiving or intimidating consumers to confuse them). Therefore, in order to prevent the occurrence or expansion of consumer damage, we would like to inform all consumers.

Note: In addition to the "Older Adults Support Center," similar names such as "Senior Welfare Support Center" and "Older Adults Social Support Volunteer Center" may be used.
