About Electronic Certificates

The My Number Card can be equipped with two types of electronic certificates: signature electronic certificate and user authentication electronic certificate.
The validity period of each electronic certificate is until the 5th birthday after issuance.
Note: The notation "valid until YYYY/MM/DD" (expiration date) on the My Number Card indicates the validity period of the My Number Card itself, not the validity period of the electronic certificates.

	Electronic Certificate for Signatures	User Certificate Electronic Certificate
Overview	This is used when creating and sending electronic documents via the internet. It can prove that the electronic document is authentic and was sent by the user.	This is used when logging into internet sites or kiosk terminals at convenience stores, etc. It can prove that "the person who logged in is the user themselves."

Password	6 to 16 characters including alphanumeric characters	Four-digit number

Certificate Information	Basic 4 information (name, address, gender, date of birth), serial number, expiration date, etc. are recorded. How to Issue and Renew Electronic Certificates

When changing, resetting, or unlocking the PIN for the electronic certificate

When you want to change the PIN of your electronic certificate, or if you have forgotten the PIN and need to reset it, or if the card has been locked, you need to go through the procedures at City Hall or a Branch Office.
For those moving abroad, the My Number Card requires procedures at an overseas diplomatic mission or your registered domicile.
