Exemption category (categorized into 4 levels depending on applicant household income, etc.)

(2) Three-fourths exemption (one-fourth of the insurance premium is paid and five-eighths is included in the pension amount)
(3) Half amount exemption (half of insurance premium paid, three quarters included in pension amount)
(4) 1/4th exemption (3/4th insurance premium paid, 7/8th included in pension amount)
Approval period
(1) From July to June of the following year (The examination results will be notified by the Japan Pension Service at a later date)
(2) The pension amount will be reduced according to the exemption category.
(3) Insurance premiums can be paid retroactively up to 10 years ago (however, if you pay late for the third year or earlier, a certain amount will be added to the premiums at that time).
Continuation application
Applications are required every year, but if you wish to receive a full exemption from the following year onwards, if your full exemption is approved, you will be able to continue receiving the examination from the following year onwards.
