What is supplemental premium?

This provides an additional pension to the basic old-age pension of Category 1 insured persons.
Type 1 insured persons who are not enrolled in the National Pension Fund can pay additional insurance premiums at the same time as paying the fixed insurance premium.
The additional insurance premium is 400 yen (monthly), and 200 yen will be added to the pension amount.
For example, if you pay the additional insurance premium for 40 years, your pension amount will increase by 200 yen x 12 months x 40 years (96,000 yen).
To apply for a supplementary pension, please bring your identification document (My Number Card, driver's license, etc.) and your Basic Pension Number Notification or Pension Booklet to the Insurance and Pension Division.
