Please tell me about the eligibility to receive the Disability Basic Pension.

- Those who had their first medical examination (the date when they first received treatment from a doctor or dentist due to illness or injury) while enrolled in the National Pension, or those who were enrolled in the National Pension, have an address in Japan, and are 60 years of age or older. Those under the age of 65 who have their first medical examination
- On the day before the date of the first medical examination, during the insured period up to 2 months before the date of the first medical examination, the insurance premium payment period has not exceeded one-third or more. There is no delinquency period for insurance premiums in the most recent one year up to two months before the date of the first medical examination on the day before the date
- On the date of recognition of disability (in principle, the day after 1 year and 6 months have passed since the date of the first medical examination), if the person has a level 1 or 2 disability according to the national disability classification table, or does not fall under the date of recognition of disability. However, if the person has developed a grade 1 or 2 disability by the day before the person turns 65.
- If you had your first medical examination before the age of 20 (when you were not enrolled in the pension system) and were in a level 1 or 2 disability state at the age of 20 or on the day your disability was recognized. However, if the person has income above a certain amount, the full or half amount will be suspended.
Pension amount
Reiwa 6th year
Grade 1 disability: 1,020,000 yen (1,017,125 yen for those aged 68 or older)
Grade 2 disability: 816,000 yen (813,700 yen for those aged 68 or older)
Additional amount
1st and 2nd person (per person): 234,800 yen each
Third or more children (per person): 78,300 yen each Note: This benefit is paid when there are children (children who will be 18 by the end of the year in which they reach the age of 18, or children under the age of 20 who have a first or second degree disability) who are supported by the recipient.
