QuestionI was enrolled in the Employees' Pension, but I have resigned from my company. What procedures should I follow?
Response
When you retire from your company, you need to go through the procedure to become a National Pension Type 1 insured person (those who pay their own premiums), even if you have a dependent spouse.

Required Items for Notification
- Identification documents (My Number Card, driver's license, etc.) and the basic pension number notification or pension book (if there is a dependent spouse, their identification documents and basic pension number notification or pension book are also required)
- Documents that indicate the retirement date (such as qualification loss certificate, separation notice, retirement certificate, etc.)
Notes
- If a representative is making the notification, the representative's identification documents (My Number Card, driver's license, etc.) and a power of attorney are required.
- The National Pension insurance premium payment guide will be mailed later by the Japan Pension Service.
- Those who become dependents of their spouse upon leaving the company (Category 3 insured persons) will need to complete the enrollment procedures at their spouse's workplace.
