On August 24, at the Community Promotion Plaza, we welcomed Mr. Akitoshi Muraoka (President and CEO of Yomiuri Shimbun Tokyo Headquarters), Mr. Tsukasa Imamura (President and CEO of Yomiuri Giants), and Mr. Retsu Mizoguchi (President and CEO of Yomiuri Land) to sign a comprehensive partnership agreement regarding the promotion of regional revitalization (regional development) through the realization of the TOKYO GIANTS TOWN concept, and held a press conference.

This partnership agreement aims to utilize the respective resources of Inagi City and the three companies to collaborate and cooperate in realizing the "TOKYO GIANTS TOWN" concept, thereby working towards the sustainable development of the region (regional revitalization) and promoting education, culture, and sports in the area, contributing to the creation of regional value and enhancement of its appeal.

Specifically, on July 6, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the "New GIANTS Stadium" being constructed as part of the Land Readjustment Project in the southeastern area of Nanzan, and it aims to promote regional development and revitalization in conjunction with the existing facilities of Yomiuri Land and various surrounding facilities, including an aquarium that will be built next to the new stadium.

This concept is originally a business plan of a private company, but it completely aligns with the concept of Community Development in the development of the hilly areas of Inagi City and the Land Readjustment Project in the southeastern part of Nanzan. The city will fully support the aspects where it can cooperate as a City Administration.

In the future, we will redevelop the southern rotary of Inagi Station and Keio Yomiuri Land Station on the Keio Sagamihara Line, as well as open the urban planning road as soon as possible. We will also work on attracting a new bus route connecting Inagi Station, Keio Yomiuri Land Station, and the main gate of Yomiuri Land. These efforts will not only alleviate congestion and ensure safety for visitors to TOKYO GIANTS TOWN, but also improve the convenience of citizen life by creating new routes in the southern hilly area.

By the way, "Yomiuri Land Co., Ltd." was originally named "Kanto Race Club Co., Ltd." when it entered Inagi City. In November 1961, the Yomiuri Public Course (golf course) opened, followed by Yomiuri Land (amusement park) in March 1964, and the Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club (golf course) in April of the same year. In May of that year, the headquarters moved from Otemachi, Chiyoda Ward to Inagi Town, Minami-Tama District. In the past, there was also an off-road bike circuit in the Minamiyama area, but since then, the business has expanded with the development of surrounding facilities, including golf courses, amusement parks, golf practice ranges, bathing facilities, elderly care facilities, hospitals, indoor amusement park areas, and indoor flower gardens.

It is not an exaggeration to say that Inagi City has developed alongside the expansion of the Yomiuri Land project. With this comprehensive agreement as an opportunity, I hope we can strengthen our collaboration even further and build a WIN-WIN relationship for citizens, administration, and businesses.

The opening of the new Giants Stadium is scheduled for the end of the next fiscal year, March of Reiwa 7, while the grand opening, which will include the aquarium, is planned for sometime during Reiwa 8.
