Please tell me how the validity period of certification for long-term care or support is determined.
Updated: June 21, 2023
As a general rule, the expiration date for certification of need for long-term care and support is set as shown in the table below.
The validity period is determined by each person's situation, so the same period is not set uniformly.
Application category | Validity period of certification of principles | Configurable certification validity period range |
---|---|---|
new application | 6 months | 3 to 12 months |
Classification change application | 6 months | 3 to 12 months |
Renewal application | 12 months | 3 to 48 months |
The certification validity period is set shorter than in principle in cases where the current level of long-term care need is considered to change before the validity period in principle expires, and the following situations apply.
- If the degree of physical or mental disability of the subject of the examination is considered to be in a state that is likely to change within 6 months (in the examination judgment of the possibility of maintaining or improving the condition, condition is not stable”, including those judged to require long-term care 1)
- When it is considered possible that the status of the examination judgment may change, such as when the environment in which the applicant is placed changes significantly, such as moving from a facility to at-home or from at-home to a facility.
- In addition, when the certification review board for long-term care deems it particularly necessary
