Beware of refund fraud!

There have been attempts at fraud where individuals impersonate employees of Inagi City Hall over the phone, falsely claiming that there are refunds for taxes in order to deceive people into giving them money.

Method

"There is a tax refund. We will process the transfer to your account, so please take your cash card and mobile phone and go to a nearby financial institution." After directing the victim to the financial institution, the perpetrator says, "I will teach you how to receive the refund via mobile phone," and tricks the victim into transferring money to the perpetrator's account.

If you receive a suspicious phone call like this

Regarding tax refunds, the City Hall will not make calls to citizens to guide them to financial institutions or teach them how to operate machines. If you receive such a suspicious call, please hang up and contact the relevant department at the City Hall, or the police or tax office.
