The washing instructions for clothing, etc. have changed.

Update date: January 23, 2017

From December 1, 2016, the washing instructions for clothing, etc. have been changed to symbols stipulated in the new JIS L 0001.

The new laundry label uses the same symbols as the international standard label. The number of types of symbols will increase from 22 to 41 as the types of bleach and application temperature are set more precisely than before. By providing more detailed information, we can expect to reduce laundry problems such as shrinking of clothes and fading of colors.
Additionally, with the unification of washing labels both domestically and internationally, it is believed that it will be easier to handle clothing and other textile products purchased overseas.
Please see the Consumer Affairs Agency website for details.
