What is "Advocacy"?

In English advocacy, it is translated as "rights protection," "support activities," and "advocacy activities" in Japanese.

The City Hospital Advocacy Consultation Room is a consultation desk for patients and their families using the City Hospital, addressing opinions, requests, and complaints, with the aim of early resolution while advocating for their rights and interests. It has been open since May 11, 2004.

Consultations are held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 AM to noon.

Purpose of Introducing the Advocacy System

In medical settings, patients and their families generally hold a weaker position, and many find it difficult to voice their dissatisfaction or questions to the hospital, which can lead to distrust and dissatisfaction with the hospital.
To improve this distrust and dissatisfaction, we have established an independent consultation room from the hospital to facilitate early resolution, believing that this will further enhance the trust relationship between patients and the hospital.

What is an Advocacy Consultant?

Advocacy consultants are individuals with extensive medical experience, appointed by the mayor as key consultants to promote this system.
Specifically, they work to protect the rights and interests of patients by responding to consultations and reporting opinions to the Advocacy Review Committee.

What is the Advocacy Review Committee?

The Advocacy Review Committee is an independent body that receives reports from the Advocacy Officer, conducts reviews of issues that have been submitted for examination in a fair and neutral manner, and makes recommendations to the Mayor based on the results. It is composed of four review committee members appointed by the Mayor.
