funeral expenses

Update date: April 27, 2022

When a person enrolled in Inagi City's National Health Insurance dies, 50,000 yen will be paid as funeral expenses to the person who conducted the funeral upon request from the funeral celebrant (chief mourner).
Please note that the benefit will not be paid after two years from the day after the funeral.

Note: If the death is due to the actions of a third party (traffic accident, etc.) and the third party is responsible for the funeral expenses as compensation, the benefit may not be paid.

What you need to apply

  • Insurance card of the deceased
  • Proof that a funeral was held (a funeral certificate or a funeral receipt/invoice with the name of the chief mourner)
  • Something that tells you where to transfer the money

If applying by mail, please attach the completed application form and the documents listed above.
Please be sure to include your phone number in order to contact you if there are any issues with your documents.
