It is a condition that you are enrolled in Inagi City National Health Insurance as of the date of birth.

Direct payment system

From October 2009, the payment method for the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant has been changed to a system in which National Health Insurance pays directly to medical institutions.
If you did not use the direct payment system for the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant, or if the childbirth expenses were less than 500,000 yen, you will need to apply for payment of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant.

If the cost of childbirth exceeds 500,000 yen, you do not need to apply for National Health Insurance. Please pay the difference to the medical institution.

  • Confirmation letter regarding the use of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant Direct Payment System
  • Receipt or invoice for maternity expenses

Receipt agency system

The insured person who gives birth applies in advance for the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Allowance with the medical institution, etc. where the child is born (limited to medical institutions, etc. approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare) as the receiving agent, up to a limit of 500,000 yen. This is a system in which the city directly pays the amount of childbirth expenses paid to the medical institution. Advance application is required within two months before the expected delivery date.
Medical institutions, etc. that implement the receipt substitute system are approved by submitting notifications to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, as a guideline for the annual number of deliveries to be 100 or less, and the ratio of income related to delivery to be 50%.
Please check the website of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare for the target medical institutions.
