About the Copayment Certificate

Updated: June 15, 2024

What is a long-term care insurance contribution ratio certificate?

Long-term care services and long-term care prevention/life support service businesses require users to bear a certain percentage of the cost.
The long-term care insurance burden ratio certificate informs the user of the burden ratio when using long-term care services, preventive care, and life support services.

Present it when using the service

Keep the burden ratio certificate together with the long-term care insurance certificate, and be sure to present both to the service provider or facility when using nursing care services.

We will mail a long-term care insurance contribution ratio certificate

Those who have been certified as needing nursing care or assistance and those who are receiving nursing care prevention and life support services will receive a certificate of the burden ratio from late June to late July. The burden ratio is determined every year, so please be sure to check it.
The applicable period is one year from August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025.

Judgment of burden ratio

Some people pay 10% to 30%, depending on their income situation (see Figure 1).

(Note) Those aged 40 to 64 pay 10%.

Note (1) The total income amount is the amount of income after deducting public pension deductions, employment income deductions, and necessary expenses from income, but before deductions such as basic deductions and personal deductions. In addition, it is calculated after deducting special deductions for long-term and short-term capital gains.
Note (2) Other total income amounts refer to the total income amount of (1) excluding miscellaneous income from pensions.

Please see the link below for details.
