Since April 2015, due to the revision of the Long-Term Care Insurance Act, the principle is that only those with care needs levels 3 to 5 can enter special nursing homes.
Those with care needs levels 1 or 2 can apply for admission (special case admission) if there are unavoidable circumstances that make it difficult to live daily life at home.

Regarding admission applications after April 2015

Persons requiring nursing care level 3, 4, and 5

As before, please apply directly to the special nursing home for the elderly that you wish to enter.

Persons requiring nursing care level 1 or 2 (special admission)

Please contact the special nursing home directly if you wish to enter.
If you have difficulty living daily life at home and meet the following reasons, applications will be accepted at the facility.

  1. Individuals with dementia frequently exhibit symptoms or behaviors that interfere with daily life, as well as difficulties in communication.
  2. Symptoms and behaviors associated with intellectual disabilities and mental disorders that frequently interfere with daily life, as well as difficulties in communication.
  3. It is difficult to ensure physical and mental safety and security due to suspected serious abuse by family members, etc.
  4. It is a single-person household, where support from family members is not expected due to the elderly or sick condition of cohabiting family members, and the supply of nursing care services and living support in the community is insufficient.

Those who have already applied for admission

Persons requiring nursing care level 3, 4, and 5

No procedure is required.

Persons requiring nursing care level 1 and 2

Please respond if you receive contact from the facility you applied to.

Current Residents

If you change to nursing care level 1 or 2 after April 2015, you will continue to be eligible for admission.
