Filing of municipal and metropolitan resident taxes for fiscal year 2025

This is information regarding income and deduction declarations for the fiscal year 2024 (from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024).
Municipal and metropolitan resident taxes are levied based on income reported for the previous year at the address as of January 1, 2025.
If you need to file a tax return, please do so by March 17, 2025.
Note: Those who submit income tax and other tax returns for fiscal year 2024 to the tax office will not need to file municipal or metropolitan resident taxes.

Overview of FY2025 Municipal and Metropolitan Resident Tax Returns

Main people who need to report

Those who lived in Inagi City as of January 1, 2025 and fall under the following categories:

  • Those whose workplace has not submitted a salary payment report to Inagi City
  • People who are not required to submit a final tax return but have income
  • Those who have no income and are not supported by relatives in the same household

Note: People who receive only public pensions do not normally need to file a tax return, but those who add various deductions such as social insurance premiums, dependents, and medical expense deductions should file a tax return.
Note: Even if you have no income, this information may be used as basic information for various insurance premiums (taxes) and other administrative services. Please report if applicable.

Declaration period

From Monday, February 3, 2025 to Monday, March 17, 2025
Note: We only accept declarations on weekdays, excluding holiday openings.

Place of declaration

Inagi City Hall, 1st floor, Taxation Division (window 6)
Reception hours: 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Note: In previous years, the venue has been the lobby on the first floor of City Hall, but starting this year, the event will be held at the Taxation Division counter.

Main things required when filing a tax return

  • For those with salary income, please submit your 2024 tax withholding slip, pay slip, or business payment slip.
  • For pension recipients, please use the 2024 public pension withholding slip sent by the Japan Pension Service, corporate pension fund organizations, mutual aid organizations, etc.
  • For those with other incomes, documents showing the amount paid, such as books and receipts.
  • If you have paid for National Health Insurance, Late-stage Elderly Medical Insurance, Nursing Care Insurance, National Pension, etc., please submit receipts or deduction certificates for the year 2024.
  • If you have paid for life insurance, earthquake insurance, etc., please submit a deduction certificate for the year 2024.
  • If you are claiming medical expenses deductions, please bring your medical expenses deduction statement for 2024 (PDF: 304KB) (please calculate the total amount before coming)

Note: If you bring only receipts, you will need to prepare a medical expense deduction statement before filing your tax return.

  • Those who receive a disability deduction must have a disability certificate or other proof of their status.
  • For those receiving special spousal deduction, documents showing the spouse's income
  • Those who receive deductions based on the dividend percentage amount and the stock transfer income percentage amount, documents proving this.

(1) One week from the start of filing, (2) One week before filing deadline, (3) 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., (4) 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
