Multilingual Interpretation Services for Emergency Calls (119)
Overview of Multilingual Interpretation Services
In order to facilitate 119 emergency calls and responses at disaster sites for foreign residents and workers in Inagi City who have difficulty communicating in Japanese, we operate a simultaneous interpretation service provided by telephone interpreters.
Start Date of Operation
April 9, 2018
Supported Languages
- Support available in five languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish (24 hours a day, 365 days a year)
- Support available in six languages: Thai, Vietnamese, Tagalog, French, Russian, and Nepali (available 365 days a year from 10 AM to 6 PM China Standard Time)
Response at the time of reporting
By having a three-way call between the communication dispatcher, foreign informant, and operator, accurate information can be obtained, which allows for a reduction in response time and the possibility of verbal guidance for first aid.
Response at Fire and Emergency Scenes
By using mobile phones owned by the emergency teams, the members who are active at fire and emergency scenes can communicate alternately with the operator, allowing them to obtain detailed information about the injured or sick individuals, facilitating information sharing with hospitals and enabling appropriate treatment.
