Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Payment
If you are enrolled in the National Health Insurance Program of Inagi City and give birth, you will receive a one-time childbirth and childcare allowance of 500,000 yen. Additionally, if the pregnancy is beyond 12 weeks (85 days), the allowance will also be provided in the case of stillbirth or miscarriage.
Note: For births until March 31, 2023, the amount will be 420,000 yen.
Eligibility Criteria
It is a condition that you are enrolled in the National Health Insurance of Inagi City at the time of childbirth.
However, if you have been enrolled in social insurance as the insured person for more than one year and give birth within six months after quitting that insurance, benefits will be provided from the insurance you were enrolled in.
Note: Benefits will not be provided after two years from the day following the birth, so please be aware.
Direct Payment System
Since October 2009, the payment method for the childbirth and childcare lump-sum grant has changed to a system where it is paid directly from the National Health Insurance to medical institutions, etc.
If the direct payment system for the childbirth and childcare lump-sum grant is not used, or if the childbirth expenses are less than 500,000 yen, an application for the childbirth and childcare lump-sum grant is required.
If the childbirth expenses exceed 500,000 yen, there is no need to apply for the National Health Insurance. Please pay the difference to the medical institution.
Required Items for Application
- Insured Person's Health Insurance Card for Childbirth
- Confirmation Document Regarding the Direct Payment System for Childbirth and Childcare Allowance
- Receipt or Invoice for Childbirth Expenses
- Information on the transfer destination
- A doctor's certificate that can prove stillbirth or miscarriage
For mail applications, please attach the completed Application Form and the documents mentioned above.
We may contact you in case of any document deficiencies, so please be sure to include your phone number.
Proxy Receipt System
This is a system where insured individuals giving birth can designate a medical institution (limited to those that have been registered and approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare) as their payment agent, apply in advance for the childbirth and childcare lump-sum payment, and have the childbirth expenses, up to a limit of 500,000 yen, paid directly from the city to the medical institution. An advance application is required within two months before the expected date of delivery.
Medical institutions that implement the payment agent system are registered and approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, with a guideline of having an annual delivery count of 100 or fewer and a ratio of income from deliveries of 50%.
Please check the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's website for the list of eligible medical institutions.
