My Town Inagi 2017: Hayato Kodama

Update date: September 15, 2017

The 33rd National Wanpaku Sumo Tournament Yokozuna's specialty is Hatakikomi

Kodama-kun from Hirao Elementary School won the 4th grade division of the 33rd National Wanpaku Sumo Tournament held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in July of this year and was crowned Yokozuna.
They won the city and capital preliminaries with overwhelming strength, and showed their strength to the fullest in the national tournament, pushing aside other sumo wrestlers from all over the country to win the championship.
When I asked him how he felt when he won, he said, ``I was nervous, but I was happy when I won.''
Kodama-kun said emphatically, ``I want to continue winning.'' In the long history of Wanpaku Sumo, it seems that there are only a handful of wrestlers who have won all three years from 4th to 6th grade, and we look forward to their victory in 5th and 6th grade as well as their continued success in the future.
