Due to the tax reform, the automobile acquisition tax was abolished from October 1, 2019, and the light vehicle tax environmental performance tax was established. When you acquire a light vehicle with three or more wheels (with an acquisition price exceeding 500,000 yen), you will be taxed regardless of whether it is a new or used vehicle.
For the time being, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will levy and collect the environmental performance tax for the light vehicle tax.
In addition, with the establishment of the Light Vehicle Tax Environmental Performance Percentage, the name of the light vehicle tax was changed to the Light Vehicle Tax Type Percentage.
