Pensioner support benefit system

Pensioner Support Benefits are paid in addition to pensions to support the lives of pensioners whose income from public pensions and other income is below a certain level. An invoice must be submitted for receipt. The Japan Pension Service will provide information on the claim.
Target audience
(1) Those who are receiving old-age basic pension and meet all of the following requirements:
- be over 65 years old
- All members of the household of the person being charged are exempt from municipal tax.
- The total of pension income and other income in the previous year is 878,900 yen or less
(2) Those who are receiving disability basic pension/survivor basic pension and whose income in the previous year was less than "4,721,000 yen + number of dependents x 380,000 yen (note)" Note: Spouses living in the same household who are 70 years of age or older The amount will be 480,000 yen if you are an elderly dependent or a dependent relative of the elderly, and 630,000 yen if you are a specified dependent relative or a dependent relative aged 16 to under 19.
Claim procedure
Those who are newly eligible to receive pensioner support benefits will receive a notification from the Japan Pension Service informing them that they can make a claim. Please fill out the enclosed postcard (pensioner support benefit claim form) and return it. If you are starting to receive a pension, please complete the claim procedure at the same time as the pension claim procedure.
Note: If you are already receiving pensioner support benefits, there is no need to apply.
