Specific Small Motorized Bicycles (Electric Kickboards, etc.)

With the enforcement of the revised Road Traffic Act, from July 1, 2023, electric kickboards and similar vehicles that meet certain criteria will be classified as specific small motorized bicycles, and new traffic rules will apply, including the exemption from needing a driver's license.

What is a specific small motorized bicycle?

It refers to those that meet all of the following criteria.

1. The vehicle dimensions must be 1.9m or less in length and 0.6m or less in width.
2. Cannot change the maximum speed while driving
3. The rated output of the motor must be 0.6 kW or less
4. It is an automatic transmission (AT mechanism)
5. Speed not exceeding 20 km/h
6. Equipped with a maximum speed display light
7. Compliance with safety standards under the Road Transport Vehicle Act
8. Having a contract for automobile liability insurance
9. Installation of the license plate
