Zone 30
What is 'Zone 30'?
Zone 30 is a traffic safety measure aimed at regulating the maximum speed within the area to 30 kilometers per hour, combined with safety measures, to suppress vehicle speeds and through traffic in residential areas surrounded by main roads, thereby protecting the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. Drivers should refrain from through traffic within the area and adhere to the regulated speed of 30 kilometers per hour for safe driving.
Why is there a maximum speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour?
In the event of a collision between pedestrians and vehicles, the fatality rate increases sharply when the vehicle's speed exceeds 30 kilometers per hour. Additionally, since accidents involving pedestrians and bicycles are common on residential roads, a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour is enforced to reduce the occurrence of accidents.
Road signs and surface markings indicating Zone 30
Install speed limit signs and symbol mark signs at the entrance of Zone 30, as well as road surface markings, to indicate the beginning of the regulations to drivers.
