In response to the explosion and fire that occurred in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto Prefecture in July of the first year of Reiwa, a ministerial ordinance (Ministerial Ordinance No. 67 of the first year of Reiwa) was promulgated to amend part of the regulations concerning the control of hazardous materials. As a result of this amendment, when purchasing gasoline in containers, it is now mandatory to verify the identity of the purchaser, confirm the purpose of use, and create a sales record.
