In the fiscal year 2024, 17 healthy meal promotion members are divided into 2 groups with the activity theme "Are you getting enough protein for a lively body in the morning?" We held a nutrition course (cooking practice) at the Cultural Center in the city.

Easy protein charge from the morning

Protein is a building material for the body. Consuming it properly from the morning is very important for spending the day energetically.

This time, we will introduce a protein-rich menu that can be easily prepared on a busy morning.

・Baked cheese with canned salmon ・Tomato stew with canned mackerel and dried tofu ・Tuna sandwich ・Open sandwich with natto and dried baby sardines

Building a Vibrant Body from Morning

This time, we will introduce a simple dairy washoku menu that combines protein-rich foods with calcium-rich milk and yogurt.

・Grilled sardines with milk and egg ・Milk curry soup with plenty of vegetables ・Carrot salad with yogurt sauce

Vitality-Generating Healthy Food Course

In the summer when appetite decreases, we have come up with "quick add recipes" as a way to easily prepare meals while increasing protein intake, even just a little.

By adding protein-rich ingredients to your regular meals, soups, main dishes, and side dishes, you can increase your protein intake.

・Hijiki and plum edamame rice ・Mackerel in water cold soup ・Egg omelette with koya tofu ・Taiwanese style omelette

Delicious Reduced Salt with Milk Magic

This time, we will introduce a menu of dairy washoku. Dairy washoku refers to a cooking method that combines traditional seasonings such as miso and soy sauce with milk, which has richness and umami, in order to reduce salt and dashi while preserving the original flavors and characteristics of the ingredients, allowing people to enjoy delicious Japanese cuisine.

It was quite difficult to connect milk with Japanese cuisine, but using milk, which is rich in calcium, other minerals, and B vitamins that we tend to lack, to create Japanese dishes was an eye-opening experience for us.

By using milk instead of dashi, which is essential for Japanese cuisine, we can reduce salt intake and focus on health in our daily diet. For this menu planning, we referred to the booklet supervised by Hiroko Koyama from the Japan Milk Association's "Let's Start Dairy Washoku" initiative.

・Milk Potato (Milk Powdered Sweet Potato Style) ・Potato Salad (Milk Potato + Sushi Vinegar) ・Milk Tonjiru ・Cottage Cheese Oyakodon
