QuestionI am a foreigner who came to Japan. Do I need to register as a resident?

Response

Foreign nationals who stay in Japan for more than three months in principle must register as residents at the City Hall of their place of residence after receiving a residence card at the Immigration Bureau.

  • Applications must be made by the individual aged 16 and over
  • Applicants under 16 years old must have a representative (household head, parents, or relatives living with the applicant)
