The presentation of the tax payment certificate will no longer be required during the vehicle inspection for light vehicles (excluding motorcycles).
Starting from January 2023, the "Light Vehicle Tax Payment Confirmation System (Light JNKS)" will begin.
When the Light JNKS starts, payment confirmation can be done at the national light vehicle inspection associations, so it is generally unnecessary to present the "tax payment certificate" at the continuation inspection window during vehicle inspections.
However, small motorcycles (over 250cc) are not included, so the presentation of the tax payment certificate is required.
In the following cases, a "paper tax payment certificate" may still be required as before.
- Due to the immediate payment, if the payment information is not registered in the Light JNKS (it takes about 1 to 2 weeks to confirm the payment information)
- If there are any past unpaid amounts for the target vehicle
- Immediately after a name change (such as when purchasing a used car)
- Immediately after moving in from another city or town
- In the case of motorcycles (bikes) (excluding light JNKS)
