1 | The 7th | About street trees | When exiting the Central Library, it is dangerous because you cannot see to the right. Cars tend to speed up on the downhill slope, and there are bicycles on the sidewalk. I would like the roadside trees to be pruned. | In the city, we manage street trees and other plantings by trimming shrubs and weeding tree belts approximately once or twice a year. Regarding the route, including the section you pointed out, on October 12th a contractor was hired to trim shrubs and remove weeds to ensure visibility when cars exit the library. Going forward, we will continue to carry out regular mowing and weeding work, and will strive to ensure proper maintenance based on appropriate road patrols by staff and information from citizens. |

2 | 18th | Eliminating the risk to the lives of Inagi citizens from dangerous traffic violations and ensuring their safety | There are frequent cases of cars entering the area without stopping even when the two push button signals near the Create Family Mart on Icho Namiki Street turn red. These signals are also near an elementary school, so I would like emergency measures to be taken to ensure safety. | Regarding the crosswalk equipped with push-button traffic lights as requested, the city has installed warning signs such as "Watch out for pedestrians jumping out into the street" and "Drive slowly as this is a school route" as a traffic safety measure to ensure the safety of pedestrians. However, as the area you requested has a lot of vehicle traffic, the city has requested Tama Chuo Police Station to patrol the area and crack down on traffic violations in order to further ensure traffic safety. | Management Division Traffic Countermeasures Section |
3 | 18th | Eliminating smoking around stations | I often see people still smoking in front of Minami-Tama Station and Inagi-Nagumo Station, as well as in the parks nearby, using handrails and benches. I believe that fines have already been imposed, but I would like to see them implemented. | Based on the Inagi City Ordinance on Restrictions on Smoking on Streets, etc., the city regulates smoking on the streets, etc., which has the potential to lead to passive smoking, danger and nuisance to those around, and littering of cigarette butts, and has taken every opportunity to publicize and raise awareness of the ordinance. As a result, the number of guidance cases in no-smoking zones such as on the streets has been decreasing year by year, but due to smokers' complacency, smoking and littering in no-smoking zones such as on the streets continue to occur. For this reason, we will continue to have our street smoking prevention instructors patrol the streets and other areas, and will also continue to raise awareness through the use of educational materials, including in the areas you have pointed out, in order to ensure the effectiveness of the ordinance. |

4 | 18th | Bus operation | I would like the number of buses from Inagi-Naguman Station to Inagi Station to be increased. | The current situation surrounding bus operators is that, in light of the nationwide decline in the number of drivers willing to work, the "Standards for Improvement of Working Hours, etc. of Motor Vehicle Drivers", which came into effect on April 1, 2024 as part of the Work Style Reform, revised versions of the so-called Improvement Standards Notification require drivers to work longer hours and have more rest periods. Bus operators have told us that, even taking into account the current number of drivers and the expected number of drivers in the future, they may not be able to maintain the current state of bus operations within the city. In addition, the i-bus service that the city has asked Odakyu Bus to operate is also experiencing a shortage of drivers, and the i-bus service is intended to complement regular bus services. As a result, it appears difficult at this time to increase the number of buses on the requested routes. The city will continue to discuss appropriate bus operations within the city, taking into account the current situation surrounding bus operators, including opinions expressed at the Inagi City Regional Public Transportation Council, which is made up of representatives of local neighborhood associations and civic groups, bus operators, police, etc. and discusses matters necessary to realize transportation services that are in line with local conditions. |

5 | 28th day | Inagi-Naganuma Station East and West Bicycle Parking Lots | Regarding the use of the Inagi-Naganuma Station East and West Bicycle Parking Lots, could you please consider expanding the range of motorcycles allowed from the current 125cc to 200cc or less? | The domestic motorcycle market continues to show a downward trend in the number of units sold, and manufacturers are re-importing models produced overseas that are produced with engine displacements other than those required by Japan's domestic licensing system. As a result, standard motorcycles with engine displacements of 125cc or more, like the model you inquired about, are being sold, but this does not mean that all standard motorcycles sold in Japan are of this type. For this reason, in order to allow vehicles of 200cc or less to be parked in parking lots such as the Inagi-Naganuma Station East and West Bicycle Parking Lots, as requested, it would be necessary to classify vehicles according to size. However, due to the difficulty of implementing this under the management system, we are not considering expanding the classification beyond the current 125cc engine displacement limit at this time. However, we will continue to closely monitor and study the trends regarding ordinary motorcycles as mentioned above. |

1 | 28th day | About the study room | There are no study rooms for children, so neighboring cities have set up study rooms in their libraries. Could Inagi City do something similar? | Regarding your inquiry about turning one of the rooms in the Cultural Center into a study room, the rooms available for rental at the Cultural Center are used by registered social education groups through a lottery system, and it is difficult for us to keep a room free for use as a study room. In addition, there are spaces available for self-study near where you live, including 42 seats in the lobby on the first floor of the Central Cultural Center, 2 seats in the lobby on the first floor of the Second Cultural Center (8 seats in summer), and 13 seats in the study corner on the second floor of the Fourth Cultural Center. In addition, among the city's six libraries, there are 95 reading seats available for self-study in the Central Library, 10 seats in the First Library (Central Cultural Center, 3rd floor), 8 seats in the Second Library (Second Cultural Center, 1st floor), 8 seats in the Third Library (Third Cultural Center, 1st floor), 4 seats in the Fourth Library (Fourth Cultural Center, 1st floor), and 11 seats in the i-Plaza Library. In addition, one of the study rooms in the Shiroyama Experience Learning Center, which is attached to the Central Library, is open for individual study and has 16 seats, so please feel free to use it as well. |

28th day | Opening of school grounds to individuals on holidays | I understand that school grounds are only open to groups on holidays, but since there are no places in the area for children to play soccer or other ball games, would it be possible to allow them to be open to the general public as well? | Regarding the use of school grounds on holidays by the Board of Education, currently, based on the Inagi City School Facility Usage Ordinance, the Inagi City School Facility Usage Ordinance Enforcement Regulations, and the Inagi City School Athletic Facility Opening Regulations, the facilities are opened to local organizations that have registered with the Board of Education in advance. The facilities are not opened to individuals, as it is unclear who is responsible in the event of an accident or damage to equipment occurring within the facilities. Please note that there are days when the grass area of Inagi Nagamine Verdy Field is available for personal use. Please check the website for the schedule and usage information before considering using the area. |
