Q&A overview

Contents of question Answer

There is a green belt along the city road, but it is not managed. There are many weeds and garbage scattered around. I would like them to be managed as they can become a dumping ground and cause fires with dry grass. Shrubs (azaleas) have also been planted, but they are covered with weeds and the areas where they are planted are sparse. I would like them to be either properly managed as plants or treated as weeds.
It seems that the city cleans the area only before the beautification campaign every year, but that alone is not enough to manage the area.
I would like to see an explanation of what the schedule is for city road management and cleaning, and what measures the city plans to take in the future.

I cannot answer here whether the location you are referring to is city-owned or privately-owned land, so I would like to take it back and get back to you.
In addition, as a general rule, the land is managed by the owner, so we will confirm the situation and if the land is owned by the city, we would like the city to manage it appropriately.
(Note: It was later confirmed that it was a city road. Grass mowing work was carried out.)

I would like to make two requests related to bicycles.
(1) I heard that the city is requesting the Tokyo metropolitan government to install bicycle lanes on the road on the Ridge Main Road, but as a road bicycle user, I am concerned about my tires getting stuck in the roadway's ditches, which is dangerous. Sometimes I feel that. I would like to see safety considerations taken regarding the shape of the side gutters.
(2) There is a slope (Shiroyama Dori) that goes down from Koyodai towards Minamitama Station, but many bicycles ride on the sidewalk. I think the rule is that bicycles must be ridden on the road, but if bicycles are to be ridden on sidewalks, I wish the city would consider measures to prevent them from speeding up.
(1) The installation of bicycle lanes on the Ogone Main Road is currently only a request, so it is not yet certain whether it can be realized. We will consider safety measures in the future, taking into account various opinions.
(2) The fundamental safety measure for pedestrians is to designate sidewalks as pedestrian-only and have bicycles ride on the road. However, there are various types of bicycles, and they can travel at different speeds, ranging from mamachari bicycles to sports bicycles.
Currently, there are "jammers" (post cones) set up on the sidewalk in front of the Central Library, and they have been shown to have a certain effect in controlling speed, so they are being installed in multiple locations throughout the city. However, installing extreme bumps (steps) is threatening to lead to accidents, so the measures have to be gradual.
Furthermore, safe bicycle use is primarily a matter of the user's manners and morals, and we will continue to work to raise awareness of this.
Street trees have grown so large that their roots are growing on the sidewalks. I want something done about it. Root uprooting is a natural phenomenon that occurs as trees grow, and the natural solution would be to cut down the tree, but there are many opposing opinions from local residents.
We will consider repairing any extreme areas that require countermeasures, so please notify the relevant department.
The intersection in front of Super Sanwa has many pedestrians ignoring traffic lights (especially when the lights are changing). I think it needs to be improved so that pedestrians can see the waiting time for the lights. The installation and management of traffic lights is carried out by the police station, and the city makes requests to the police station every year regarding the installation of traffic lights and traffic improvements.
Regarding the traffic lights you mentioned, the city has been requesting improvements to the police station for some time, but unfortunately this has not been done. I would like to continue making requests in the future.
There are areas that require repair, such as some of the blocks laid on the sidewalks in the Koyodai area peeling off. Does the city department in charge check the condition of city roads?

The city's department in charge regularly patrols and inspects street trees, street lights, and roads, but it is difficult to grasp the situation in all parts of the city with limited personnel.
Please contact the person in charge of any areas that require repair. Please note that street lights etc. are numbered and managed, so it will be easier if you can let us know the number.

The city's website says that efforts are being made to deal with local cats without owners, but there are no concrete details. I would like to know what kind of efforts the city is taking and what kind of efforts it will take in the future.
Chofu and Tama cities provide subsidies for cat sterilization. Inagi City is not taking any measures. I want people to understand more than just financial issues.

The city's efforts include providing guidance and awareness to encourage proper breeding. In addition, through the veterinary association, we provide indirect support to welfare organizations.
There was a time when Inagi City subsidized the cost of sterilization surgery for cats without owners, but this was abolished after a debate in the assembly at the time. Currently, there are conflicting opinions between those who want this to be resumed and those who say it is unnecessary. We are aware that other cities are subsidizing contraceptive surgery, but Inagi City is prioritizing human medical care, nursing care, and social security within its limited financial resources, and is currently prioritizing it. Although I think the degree is low, it does not mean that we have decided not to provide subsidies in the future.
What kind of initiatives is city hall taking to reform work styles? Also, is the city making any efforts to encourage private companies in the city to actively implement reform efforts? City Hall, as an office, is actively working on work style reform. Although the number of employees has been reduced, overtime hours have been significantly reduced due to outsourcing of work to the private sector and various administrative reforms.
The city does not have the authority to intervene in lobbying private business establishments, and the Labor Standards Inspection Office falls under the jurisdiction.
