According to Article 10, Paragraph 1 of the Road Traffic Law, pedestrians must travel on the right side of the road on roads where there is no distinction between the side strip (white line) and the roadway. is as narrow as about 2.5 meters, the proviso of the same article applies, and pedestrians are also allowed to walk on the left side.

[Road Traffic Act Article 10 (Traffic Classification) Paragraph 1]

Pedestrians must walk to the right side of the road on sidewalks or on roads wide enough for pedestrians to pass without dividing the roadway from the side strip.
However, if it is dangerous to use the right side of the road or other unavoidable circumstances, the left side of the road may be used.

About the installation of signboards

We installed a signboard in March 2023 to inform pedestrians and cyclists that it is left-hand traffic.

About setting of road surface character "pedestrian priority"

Pedestrians have priority on the Tamagawa Cycling Course.
When passing pedestrians, cyclists should be careful of oncoming pedestrians and cyclists and pass slowly on the right.

About the width of the Tamagawa cycling course

The Tamagawa cycling course is paved on the flat part of the top of the embankment, and the width is narrow at about 2.5 meters.
Widening the width would require large-scale construction, such as widening the crest of the embankment and embankment on the slope, as well as the possibility of affecting the function of the embankment, so the current width is used.
