About Residential Fire Prevention
Implementation of Residential Fire Prevention Diagnosis
Residential fire inspections are conducted annually for those who may have difficulty evacuating on their own during a fire, as well as for Older Adults (households with individuals aged 65 and older, and those living alone), and members of emergency medical service registries.
In all areas of Inagi City, we provide advice and guidance on fire prevention and disaster preparedness measures for households, including the installation and maintenance of residential fire alarms, raising awareness about fraudulent sales, and promoting safe handling of heating appliances and measures to prevent furniture from tipping over.
Prepare a fire extinguisher just in case
Fire extinguishers are effective for quick initial firefighting when a fire occurs.
There are different types of fire extinguishers, and the most commonly known are powder extinguishers and foam extinguishers.
There is no obligation to install fire extinguishers in single-family homes, but having a fire extinguisher provides peace of mind in case of an emergency.
About the National Unified Fire Prevention Slogan for 2024

"Because There is a Future We Want to Protect, Be Careful with Fire"
Source: General Incorporated Association Japan Fire and Marine Insurance Association
The national unified fire prevention slogan aims to raise fire prevention awareness. Let's each citizen enhance their awareness of fire prevention.
Let's install residential fire alarms to strive for early detection of fires.
It is recommended to replace residential fire alarms every 10 years!
About Residential Fire Alarms
Residential fire alarms can become very dangerous as they may stop detecting fires due to the aging of electronic components or battery depletion. It is important to replace them every 10 years.
To check when to replace, please refer to the "installation date" you recorded when the fire alarm was installed, or check the "manufacturing year" indicated on the unit.
Information on replacing residential fire alarms is also available on the website of the Japan Fire Alarm Association. Please refer to it for more information.
Check the fire resistance of your home to prevent fires!!
Be careful of fires caused by tobacco, tempura oil, heating appliances, and more!
Fire caused by tobacco
The most dangerous thing is smoking in bed after drinking. It takes time for a spark to turn into a fire, so you may fall asleep without realizing it.
Even a small fire should not be taken lightly!
- Never smoke in bed.
- Decide on the placement of the ashtray.
- Dispose of cigarette butts by sprinkling water on them frequently.
Tempura Oil Fire
If you continue to heat it on low heat and it reaches a high temperature, it will catch fire naturally.
Even knowing it's dangerous, "accidental carelessness" doesn't decrease.
- Do not place objects around.
- Do not bring clothing close while cooking.
- Do not take your eyes off when heating tempura oil.
- Turn off the fire when leaving.

Fires from oil stoves and electric stoves
It is dangerous near the stove, as drying laundry nearby or having bedding come into contact with it while sleeping can cause a fire.
- Do not place curtains or furniture close together.
- Turn off the fire when you are not in the room.
- Refuel only after the fire is completely out.
- Do not bring laundry close.
Electrical Cord Fire
Fires are occurring from electrical cords that are used casually.
Cords can overheat and cause fires, or pets may chew on the cords, leading to short circuits and fires.
- Do not use octopus wiring.
- Do not accumulate dust in the outlet.
- Do not place furniture or other items on top of the code.
- Unplug the iron and hairdryer after use.

To those who will set up stalls, and to those who will host large outdoor events
As of April 2015, part of the Inagi City Fire Prevention Ordinance has been amended, and the following contents have become mandatory.
In August 2013, based on the accident at the Fukuchiyama Fireworks Festival in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture, which resulted in 3 deaths and 56 injuries, amendments were made to the Inagi City Fire Prevention Ordinance to strengthen fire prevention measures at festivals, fairs, fireworks displays, and other events that gather large crowds. The following provisions have been made mandatory.
- Installation of Fire Extinguishers When Using Fire-Related Equipment
- If you plan to set up a stall using fire-related equipment, you must submit a notification.
1 Let's install fire extinguishers
In the event of a fire occurring at an event where many people gather, prompt initial firefighting is very important.
When using fire-related equipment such as cooking appliances or generators, it has been decided to install fire extinguishers.
(Note) It is also possible to jointly install fire extinguishers with multiple stalls, etc. For details, please contact the fire department.
2. If you plan to open a stall, please make a notification.
If you are using fire-related equipment at a stall, you must notify the fire department at least three days before opening.
In principle, the person opening the stall using fire-related equipment must submit the notification.
Additionally, if multiple stalls are opened at a single event, the event organizer or the person overseeing the stalls can submit the notification collectively.
What is an event where many people gather?
This applies to events with a certain social reach, such as festivals, temple fairs, fireworks displays, and exhibitions.
Therefore, gatherings such as barbecues by relatives and events hosted by parents or guardians at kindergartens and elementary schools, where acquaintances gather, are excluded.
What are fire-related appliances?
This refers to devices that use liquid fuels, gas fuels, solid fuels, or devices that use electricity as a heat source.
Specifically, it includes generators, stoves, heaters, etc.
Types of Fire Extinguishers
Aerosol-type simple fire extinguishers and residential fire extinguishers cannot be installed.
Please install a type 10 powder fire extinguisher.

3. When holding large-scale events outdoors, it is required to notify the fire department and designate a fire safety officer.
If an outdoor event is expected to attract more than 100,000 people per day, and the number of stalls approved by the organizer exceeds 100, or if it is an event of a similar scale that the fire chief deems requires fire prevention measures, notification to the fire department is required 14 days prior to the event date.
- Announcement on the Fire Department and City Website
- Implementation of Fire Prevention Measures
Organizers of large outdoor events are required to implement fire prevention measures.
(Note) If a plan related to necessary fire prevention measures is not submitted, penalties (fines of up to 300,000 yen) will apply.
The details of the plan related to necessary operations for fire prevention are as follows.
- Ensuring the implementation system for fire prevention operations.
- Understanding the use of fire-related equipment and the handling of hazardous materials.
- Matters concerning the safe arrangement of outdoor stalls that use fire-related equipment or handle hazardous materials for fire prevention in customer seating areas.
- Matters related to fire extinguishing preparations for the use of fire-related equipment.
- Matters related to firefighting activities, reporting and communication, and evacuation guidance in the event of a fire.
- Matters necessary for understanding actions that may hinder firefighting activities.
- In addition to items 1 to 6 above, matters related to necessary operations for fire prevention.
