To carry out early evacuation

Updated: May 20, 2021

Check with your family and community to ensure timely and appropriate evacuation.

In the event of a natural disaster, the basic rule is to take early evacuation action at your own discretion.
When the risk of a disaster increases, the city issues evacuation orders, indicating areas corresponding to the type of disaster that may occur.
Check in advance what kind of dangers there are in your home, school, workplace, etc., as well as designated evacuation shelters and evacuation sites, and think about how you will evacuate in case of an emergency.

Step 1 Check what kind of dangers there are at home, school, or work.

Check the hazard map and check the dangers of frequently visited places such as your home, school, or workplace, such as how many meters the river will flood if it floods, whether the area is in a landslide warning area, etc.
Check the evacuation shelters and evacuation sites (notes) designated by the city and plan your route and means of transportation.

Note: Please note that this differs depending on the disaster type.

Step 2 Check the evacuation information issued by your local municipality.

[How to obtain evacuation information]
・Disaster Prevention Administrative Radio: If you have difficulty hearing the content, please call the toll-free number ``0800-800-9991''.
・TV (NHK): You can check "local disaster prevention and daily life information" by pressing the "d" button on the remote control.
・Emergency alert email: When evacuation information is issued, an emergency alert email will be sent to your mobile phone or smartphone.
・Inagi City Email Distribution Service: This is a city registration-based email service.
・Inagi City official Twitter ・Inagi City official homepage... Evacuation information, etc. will be posted in the latest information.
・Public relations using government vehicles...etc.

Evacuation information and actions that residents should take

alert level Evacuation information, etc. Actions that residents should take, etc.
Alert Level 3 Evacuation of elderly people, etc.

<Situation when the announcement is issued: Risk of disaster>
◎ Elderly people and others should evacuate from dangerous places (by evacuating or ensuring safety indoors) (Note: 1).
- Elderly people, etc. include elderly people and people with disabilities who live at home or in facilities and who take time to complete evacuation, as well as those who assist them in evacuation.
- Now is the time for people other than the elderly to start refraining from their usual activities, such as refraining from going out to work, to prepare for evacuation, or to evacuate on their own, if necessary.
For example, depending on the local situation, residents in areas where early evacuation is desirable are encouraged to evacuate voluntarily at this time.

Alert Level 4

evacuation order
(Notes: 2)

<Situation to be issued: High risk of disaster>
◎Evacuate everyone from dangerous areas (evacuation or ensure safety indoors).

alert level 5

Emergency safety assurance
(Notes: 3)

<Situations in which the announcement is made: Disaster occurrence or impending occurrence>
◎Danger to life, ensure safety immediately!
・If it is dangerous to vacate or evacuate, ensure emergency safety. However, in situations where a disaster occurs or is imminent, it is not always possible to take this action safely, and even if you take this action, your personal safety may not always be ensured.

Notes: 1 Evacuation: Evacuate to a designated emergency evacuation site or a safe relative's or acquaintance's home.
Ensuring indoor safety: Move to a safer room within the building you are currently in.
Notes: 2 Evacuation orders (emergency) and evacuation advisories have been unified, and evacuation advisories have been abolished.
Notes: 3 This information is not necessarily issued.
[Caution] In the case of a sudden disaster, evacuation information etc. may not be issued in time by the mayor of the municipality, so please check the information equivalent to the alert level yourself, judge the necessity of evacuation, and take precautions to protect yourself. If you feel it, voluntarily evacuate without hesitation.

Step 3 Think in case something happens.

For example, the following situations are possible, so think about emergency responses in advance.

Example 1: If it seems dangerous to move to the evacuation site due to heavy rain, etc., move to a nearby building that is considered safer (a building whose top floor will not be flooded, a building not along a river, etc.).

Example 2: If you feel it is dangerous to go out, move to a room in the building that is considered safer (a room on an upper floor, a room as far away from the mountain as possible).
