In the torrential rain disaster caused by the typhoon that occurred in August 2016, the Omoto River in Iwate Prefecture flooded, causing tragic damage such as the death of a user of a facility for the elderly. Due to the growing importance of this issue, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government provides real-time information on the Internet through the Flood Disaster Prevention General Information System, which provides observation information from rain gauges and river water level gauges installed in the city.
