My Town Inagi 2016 Mana Watanabe
Update date: November 15, 2016
I want to reduce the number of people who die from infectious diseases!
Mr. Watanabe, who lives in the city and is a clinical laboratory technologist, has been dispatched to Ghana in Africa as a volunteer for two years from September 2016 to September 2018 as a JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer.
JICA conducts international cooperation to help solve the problems facing developing countries. Ms. Watanabe will be in charge of infectious diseases and AIDS, and will visit the dispatched areas to support health services. It is also my job to manage and utilize health data in the dispatched area. It seems that the local staff have high hopes for Mr. Watanabe, who has experience testing infectious diseases as a clinical laboratory technologist, to see the testing room.
Mr. Watanabe was inspired to participate as a volunteer when he heard about a person who had participated in the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers when he was a high school student. I decided to participate because I wanted to help someone with the experience and knowledge I had gained through working at a hospital.
The dispatch destination is an undeveloped land in Ghana, and the living water is rainwater, and the life is greatly different from the past. Mr. Watanabe, who faces a harsh environment, enthusiastically said, "I can't count my worries, but there are many things I can learn. I want to empathize with the hardships of the locals, learn from them, and make use of my experiences after returning to Japan." rice field.
