Specific Personal Information Protection Assessment
In the My Number system (Social Security and Tax Number System), local governments and others that intend to hold or hold specific personal information files are required to conduct a specific personal information protection assessment.
Note: A specific personal information file refers to a personal information file or personal information database that includes the My Number.
Purpose of Specific Personal Information Protection Assessment
This is one of the protective measures in the system, taking into account concerns regarding the My Number system (such as centralized management of personal information by the state, unauthorized tracking and matching of specific personal information, etc.), aimed at preventing infringement of individual rights and interests, such as privacy, and ensuring public trust.
Implementation Method of Specific Personal Information Protection Assessment
We declare that we will create a "Specific Personal Information Protection Evaluation Report" for each office that holds specific personal information files, analyze the risks of leakage and other incidents involving specific personal information, and take appropriate measures to mitigate such risks.
The evaluation reports to be created will, in principle, be classified as follows based on the number of individuals covered by the specific personal information files.
- If the number of individuals is less than 1,000, conducting a specific personal information protection assessment is not mandatory.
- If the number of subjects is between 1,000 and less than 100,000, create a basic item evaluation report
- If the target population is between 100,000 and 300,000, create a basic item evaluation report and a key item evaluation report.
Note: For more details, please see the link below (Personal Information Protection Commission Website).
Publication of Specific Personal Information Protection Evaluation Report
The created evaluation reports will be published sequentially on the My Number Card protection evaluation website below.
In addition, we will review the evaluation reports at least once a year, publish the updated reports reflecting any changes, and declare their safety.
