Transition to the New Board of Education System

In Inagi City, a new Superintendent of Education was appointed on October 15, 2018, transitioning to a new Board of Education system based on partial amendments to the Law on the Organization and Administration of Local Education. The legal amendment was enacted on April 1, 2015, but the Superintendent in office at that time continued to serve as the Superintendent under the old system until the end of their term, as transitional measures were taken under the old system.
Under the new system, the Chairperson, who is the representative of the Board of Education, and the Superintendent, who is the supervisor of the secretariat, have been unified. Additionally, the old Superintendent was selected from among the members of the Board of Education, but the new Superintendent is not a member of the Board of Education and is directly appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, as a special position of the city.
