Application for study assistance (2020)

Inagi City will provide financial assistance to parents who are in financial difficulty to cover the costs of school supplies, school lunches, etc. for elementary and junior high school students.
If you wish to receive benefits, please submit an application.
Please note that applications are required every year. Even if you received tuition assistance in the previous year, you must apply again.
If you are not applying, you do not need to submit anything.
The application deadline for initial certification is Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Notices and application forms for the school attendance support system will be distributed to children attending public elementary and junior high schools in the city through their schools in April.

People eligible for assistance and documents required for application

Applicants are those who live in Inagi City, whose children are enrolled in a national or public elementary or junior high school, and who fall under any of the following.

1 The household is currently receiving welfare benefits.

2. Since April 1, 2023, any of the following conditions have been met:

These are households whose welfare benefits have been suspended or abolished.

One of the parents received child support benefits.
Child rearing allowance is an allowance for single-parent families. Please note that it is different from child allowance.

(3) One of the parents received a welfare loan from the Social Welfare Council.

All guardians are exempt from municipal inhabitant tax because they are disabled, minors, widows, or widowers.

None (Note) However, if you have a guardian who moved in after January 2, 2020, a tax exemption certificate (copy accepted) for that guardian is required.

One of the parents received a reduction in tax exemption or deferral of collection of National Health Insurance tax.

If the total income of all members of the household is less than the above amount, it is a guideline for receiving school assistance. However, the standard amount varies depending on the age composition and rent, so please use it as a guideline only. If you are unsure whether you meet the criteria, we recommend that you apply.
Income in the above table includes part-time work, casual employment, and pensions. For salaried workers, it refers to the "Amount Paid" on the tax withholding slip minus social insurance premiums and withholding tax. For non-salaried workers, it refers to the "Total Income" on the tax return. If your income has suddenly changed due to special circumstances such as leaving your employer, bankruptcy, illness, or disaster, please contact the Academic Affairs Division.

If your household includes a parent or guardian who moved to Inagi City after January 2, 2020, proof of income from one of the sources (copies accepted) for all applicable persons is required.

  • Withholding tax slip for employment income for 2020
  • A copy of the income tax return for 2020 (Table 1)
  • Municipal inhabitant tax taxation certificate (or tax exemption certificate) for 2020 

Taxation certificates (or tax exemption certificates) can be purchased in June at the municipality where you lived on January 1, 2020.

From application to notification of results

Fill out application form and prepare attached documents

Please submit one "Application Form for Receiving Schooling Support Fees/School Encouragement Fees" per household.
Families with siblings attending elementary and junior high schools in the city may receive multiple application forms, but each family is only required to submit one application form.
Application forms are unified into one for the school attendance support system and the school attendance incentive system.
The required documents will vary depending on the reason for your application, so please check the table above carefully.

Application deadline

To receive the initial certification in April, please submit your application by Tuesday, April 30, 2020.

  • If applied by April 30th

Notification of the results will be sent by mail to the applicant's address in early July.

  • If you apply after that time

You will begin receiving benefits based on the submission date. If you apply by the 15th of the month (or the next business day if the 15th falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday), you will begin receiving benefits from that month. If you apply after the 16th, you will begin receiving benefits from the following month. A notification of the results will be mailed to the applicant's address approximately one month after application.
The final reception for 2020 is Friday, February 28, 2020.

  • Details such as the items to be paid and the date of payment will be included in the receipt certification letter sent in July.
  • For those who received the new admission school supplies fee before enrollment, the new admission school supplies fee will not be paid after enrollment. On the other hand, if the parents of a new first year student who did not receive the allowance before the student enrolls and are certified in April, the new school supplies fee will be paid. Payment will not be made if certification is received after May.
  • Please pay the school lunch fee until you receive the screening results. Once the approval for study aid is determined, the withdrawal will be stopped and the amount already paid will be refunded.
  • For those receiving public assistance, expenses similar to those for school supplies, commuting supplies, school lunches, and school supplies for new students will be paid from public assistance, so tuition assistance expenses for other expenses will be paid.
