From Mayor Inagi to citizens (towards convergence of the 5th wave) September 8, 2021
In mid-April, the causative virus of the new coronavirus infection in Tokyo was replaced by the N501Y: Alpha strain (British type) from the conventional strain, and from mid-July, L452R: Delta strain (Indian type) accounted for the majority, and in September Currently, it has been replaced to account for about 90%.
Looking at the data for the past week or so, it seems that the number of new infections has turned to a decline, and that the peak has finally been overcome (see the table below).
Graph of increase in the number of new infected people (total for all cities, wards, towns and villages in Tokyo)
However, this delta strain is said to be about twice as infectious as the conventional strain, and considering the recent increase in the flow of people in downtown areas at night, it is expected to increase again. There is also a fear that it may turn over.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the issuance and extension of the repeated state of emergency declarations.
While there are people who are desperately working on infection prevention measures, there are also situations where behavioral changes are being neglected due to "getting used to declarations" and "fatigue of self-restraint".
Please be aware that the delta strain is a dangerous virus that is on a different level than previous viruses, so please go back to the basics and take thorough infection prevention measures.
Inagi City has set a reservation limit for vaccinations after September and has started accepting applications.
Regarding the vaccines to be distributed from the national government after September, there were only 7 boxes (1,365 vials, 8,190 vaccinations) from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government at first, but after repeated requests and discussions with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, more were added. 17 boxes (3,315 vials, 19,890 doses).
According to the following table, we secure quantity that approximately 80% of citizens of target age can complete inoculation by the end of October.

Recently, most of the reported cases of new infections are in people in their 50s or younger, and almost none are seen in people in their 60s and older who have almost completed vaccination. For this reason, the vaccine is considered to be highly effective.
We apologize for the long wait for young people who were not eligible under the previous age categories, but we would like to ask as many people as possible to get vaccinated, except for those who refrain from vaccination due to concerns such as allergies. Please take it.
Please see the city hall website for information on booking vaccinations, etc.
In addition, in order to respond to the spread of infection among children, Inagi City will consider introducing an "antigen test kit" that can be quickly determined on-site at municipal elementary and junior high schools, city nursery schools and kindergartens.
The city will continue to do its best in cooperation with the Inagi City Medical Association, Inagi City Hospital, clinics and clinics in the city.
