What is the sewerage usage fee?

This is the cost for treating wastewater discharged from your homes and businesses at the wastewater treatment plant, the cost for cleaning facilities such as sewer pipes, and other maintenance-related costs, which will be borne by the users.

Notification of the "Public Sewer Use Start Notification Form"

When construction of drainage facilities begins in your home, a Notification of usage commencement is required.
This Notification will be handled by the designated Sewerage Division contractor, so please confirm the contents, sign, and seal it before handing it over to the contractor.
Note: Even if the sewer is temporarily not in use due to reconstruction or similar work, please submit the same document. If there is no Notification, even if the sewer is not in use, sewer usage fees will be charged based on water usage.

You can also apply using the form below.

Payment of usage fees

Sewerage fees are to be paid together with the water bill for a two-month period.
Payment methods include bank transfer, payment notification, credit card, and smartphone payment options. Additionally, we have newly launched the "Web Bank Transfer Application Service." You can easily apply for bank transfer procedures using the internet, so please take advantage of it. For more details, please refer to the Tokyo Metropolitan Waterworks Bureau website.

Calculation of usage fees

The usage fee is calculated based on the amount of wastewater you discharge.
Note: The amount of water used is considered as the amount of wastewater.

Usage fees will be reduced

In the following cases, a portion of the usage fee (basic usage fee) may be waived upon application.

  1. Persons receiving livelihood assistance
  2. Those receiving Child Allowance and Special Child Allowance
  3. Those who belong to a household that has a member who has a residence in the city and is exempt from the Municipal Resident Tax, and falls under one of the following categories
    1. Those who have received a Physical Disability Certificate and have a degree of 1st or 2nd class.
    2. Those who have received the Love Handbook and have a level of 1 or 2
    3. Persons who have received a mental disability health and welfare certificate and have a grade of 1
