Role of Street Trees
Street trees have the following roles.
- It adds color and a sense of the seasons to the streetscape, enhancing the landscape along the road.
- It protects pedestrians from the strong summer sunlight and helps mitigate the heat island effect by reducing the rise in surrounding temperatures through the transpiration of leaves.
- Leaves reduce carbon dioxide through photosynthesis and purify the air by adsorbing atmospheric pollutants.
- Separating cars and pedestrians to ensure pedestrian safety.
- We will mitigate noise from traffic.
- Prevents the spread of fire along the road and protects houses from collapsing during an earthquake.
