Narrow Road Widening Improvement Project
The roads that are close to us are one of the important facilities for our daily lives. In particular, residential roads play a crucial role not only for passage but also in ensuring sunlight and ventilation, maintaining a livable environment, and serving as evacuation routes during disasters.
However, within Inagi City, there are many narrow residential roads, known as "narrow roads," that are less than 4 meters wide. These narrow roads not only pose dangers for pedestrians and vehicles, as well as bicycles and cars passing each other, but also significantly hinder the passage of emergency vehicles and firefighting activities in critical situations.
Therefore, the city has been implementing the "Narrow Road Widening Improvement Project" since fiscal year 1991 to eliminate these narrow roads and create a better living environment.
We ask for your understanding and cooperation in promoting a safe and comfortable community development that is friendly to people.

Business Target
Land adjacent to roads designated by the specific administrative agency in accordance with Article 42, Paragraph 2 of the Building Standards Act, and roads recognized by the city in accordance with Article 8, Paragraph 1 of the Road Act.
- Note: For information regarding the designation under the Building Standards Act, please check with the Tama Building Guidance Office.
- Note: For confirmation regarding the certification of the route, please contact the Department of Urban Development Management Division (3rd floor of City Hall).
Business Activities
If you donate or lend the applicable land for free, the city will develop it as a road (including paving and drainage facilities) and maintain it. Additionally, the city will subsidize part of the costs for relocating or removing properties on the setback or corner cut areas. If you can donate the corner cut land, a grant will be provided.
Note: By agreeing to use the setback area and corner cut area as public roads and submitting the necessary documents such as the Application Form for free lease, we will provide reductions for Property Tax and Urban Planning Tax.

Exemption from Business Application
If any of the following apply, you will be excluded from the narrow road widening improvement project.
- National government, local public entities, or public corporations or organizations established with their investment
- Persons who have received permission for development activities in accordance with the provisions of Article 29, Paragraph 1 of the City Planning Act
- Persons seeking designation of the location of the road as stipulated in Article 42, Paragraph 1, Item 5 of the Act
